John Anthony Mullally (90), died December 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and four daughters. Born in Sauk Rapids, MN, on June 14, 1935 (Flag Day) he was a proud husband, dad, Papa and American. One of 10 children born to Roy and Marie Mullally, John graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, MN, before serving his freshman year at St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. He joined the U.S. Army in 1954, and served as an Artillery Surveyor in Hawaii until his service ended in 1956. A proud Johnny, he graduated from St. John’s with a BS in Social Science in 1959.

Tempted by a fellow Johnny to join a blind date, he met Shay (Sharon) Reasner in 1957 in Mankato, MN. They married in the same city in 1960, two weeks after Shay graduated from St. Catherine’s University, St. Paul, MN. They raised their daughters in Bayport, MN.

John spent 33 years in many positions with 3M Co. in St. Paul, retiring in 1995 as a trainer for the employee continuous improvement program.

John was the first Sauk Rapids resident to earn the honor of Eagle Scout. He loved photography, hunting, the great outdoors, dancing, camping, and most of all, his family. An avid Vikings fan, moving to Wisconsin further fueled his commitment to the team.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shay, and daughters and sons-in-law Maureen (Daniel) Lodge, Julie Mullally, Kathy (Gavin) Burnham and Sheila Mullally. A proud Papa to Madeline (Kyle) Huerd, Charlie Lodge, Mack (Becca) Burnham, Maire Donohue and Sam (Maddie) Burnham, and great-grandchildren Allison, Jackson and Carly Huerd, and John, Everett and Luca Burnham. Also survived by siblings Mary (Jerry) Wocken and Ralph (Lois) Mullally, sister-in-law Katie Mullally, and many nieces and nephews. A proud godfather to Michael John, Tim, Jeff, Willy, Marisa, Brigid and Sam.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie, and siblings Jim, Bob, Leo, Ann, George, Ruth and Roy Jr.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2025, followed by Mass at 11:00, Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, WI. Private family burial at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Hammond Health Services and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care of John since May 2025 and their tremendous support to his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hammond Health Services, Hammond, WI; St. Croix Hospice, Hudson, WI; and Presbyterian Homes/Woodland Hill, Hudson, WI.
