In Loving Memory Of
John "Johnny" Murdock
November 5, 1939 - July 18, 2025
John Milton Murdock was born on November 5, 1939, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to his late parents, Lloyd William Murdock, Sr. and Nora Lee Linville Murdock. Johnny was known for his loving nature, kindness, and friendly demeanor.
Johnny initially worked in education for six years before transitioning from the classroom to the corporate world as an accountant at Hunt Oil Company in Dallas, where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 2015. Over his career, Johnny was a beloved coworker, known for his positive attitude and his jovial and welcoming nature. Even after retirement, he continued close relationships with many of his peers and would often meet "the girls" for lunch and margaritas. Johnny was also an active and caring member of his community, regularly preparing and serving meals at a local AIDS center for decades.
When declining health forced him to leave his home in Dallas, he moved to Kentucky where he was surrounded by family who cared and loved for him. Even through difficult circumstances, we could always count on Johnny for a warm greeting, a smile and a witty comment. The family always loved spending time with Johnny and hearing his past or most recent 'story' in a way only Johnny could deliver. "Love you more" was his favorite catchphrase, and also, the last words that many friends and family heard him utter.
He is survived by his brother, Lloyd Murdock his wife, Barbara of Princeton, Kentucky; niece, Tonya Harrington and her husband, Greg of Princeton, Kentucky; nephew, Shawn Murdock and his wife, Shawn of Walton, Kentucky, Shea Murdock and his wife, Jennifer of St. Charles, Missouri; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his sister, Linville Lee Murdock.
Johnny's Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Community Fellowship Church, Hammon, Oklahoma. Dolan Ivey will officiate.
