John Niko Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
John Charles Niko Jr., born on July 13, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 8, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late John C. Niko Sr. and Kathleen (Stadter) Niko.
John leaves behind his lifelong love, Theresa Hoepper, with whom he shared more than 50 years of devotion, laughter, and partnership. He was embraced as family by all of Theresa's loved ones, who cherished him as a brother and uncle.
John was a very proud Vietnam Veteran and dedicated over 38 years of his career to USG, where his hard work and loyalty earned the respect of many colleagues. After retirement, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially his passion for fishing.
Known for his deep love of animals, his family fondly nicknamed him "St. Francis of Assisi." John's kindness extended to every living creature, and his gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
Growing up in Chicago, John formed lifelong friendships that endured throughout the years. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, October 25 10:00 AM at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL followed by interment at Oswego Township Cemetary Main Street and a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society or PAWS Chicago in John's memory.
