John Nolan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Casper Funeral & Cremation Services on Mar. 20, 2026.
John Arthur Nolan, 77, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, in Weymouth, MA, surrounded by his family and those that loved him.
Born on May 31, 1948, in Coronado, CA, the son of the late Arthur Nolan and Margaret Nolan (Martin), he grew up in Norwell, MA. After graduating from Norwell High School in 1968, he attended Butera School of Art in Boston, MA, where he earned a degree in Commercial Art.
A devoted husband and caregiver to his wife Kay, together they lived in South Boston, MA, for over fifty years. There they co-owned and operated The Consignment Shop, a treasured local business remembered by many South Boston residents, and later were proprietors of The Nolan House B&B located at their home at 10 G Street. John loved welcoming people into his home – you could be sure to have a nice hot cup of tea and something sweet to eat, if you stopped by. A highlight for many years was their open house on St. Patrick's Day, when friends and family came to enjoy the parade and a traditional corned-beef dinner. John was a talented artist and avid Anglophile, loved music, enjoyed collecting antiques, whistling, thrifting, gardening, and reading Agatha Christie murder mysteries. He will be remembered most for his dry wit and keen sense of humor, which always brought a laugh and smile to anyone around him. He had a gentle nature and the kindest heart, always putting others above himself.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kay L. Nolan (Fullers) of South Boston, MA; his daughters, Melissa Kate Nolan of South Boston, MA, and Amanda Kate De Paulo, of Whitman, MA; his son, Jonathan Arthur Nolan of South Boston, MA; his stepdaughter, Joan McDonald of Los Angeles, CA; and his sisters, Margaret Nolan of Norwell, MA, and Pamela St. Denis of Palermo, ME; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. He was proud Papa to Dianah, Nikolas, Dylan, Aidan, Madelyn, Isabella, Leonardo and Ramona, whom he loved with all his heart. John was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Nolan and Margaret Nolan (Martin) of Norwell, MA, and two sisters, Ethel Jenkins of South Boston, MA, and Jacqueline Nicholson of Marshfield, MA.
A Celebration of Life will be held in John's honor on what would have been his 78th birthday, Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The Current Senior Living, 1435 Main Street, Weymouth, MA 02190. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at The Current Senior Living in Weymouth, MA, and Sunset Hospice in Middleborough, MA, for the love and care they provided to him.
