Mr. John Robert O'Connor, Sr. age 80 of Lewisville, formerly of Monmouth County NJ, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born on July 22,1942, in Manhattan, New York, to the late John B. and Margaret R. O'Connor. As a young man, he faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy and built a successful post-service engineering career retiring as a Superintendent of Engineering, from Woodhull Hospital in Brooklynn, New York after 26 years. Upon retirement, John moved his family to the Lewisville area where they have resided for the last 24 years. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Bernadette A. O'Connor; one son, John R. O'Connor, Jr. and his wife Susan & their daughter Ashley Ann, all of Charleston, SC; three daughters; Christina McCarthy, husband Thomas and their 3 children, Madison Lee, Liam Thomas and Collin Jonathan all of Winston-Salem, NC, Kathleen O'Connor and husband Pete of Winston-Salem, NC, and Colleen O'Connor and child Mackenzie of Lewisville, NC; he is also survived by his sister, Mary O'Connor of Keansburg, NJ. There will be a wake where the family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller in Lewisville, NC from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, NC. A burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory, Clemmons, NC. John was a daily communicant of Holy Family and St. Leo's. He loved the Lord, and he loved his family. He was a lifetime learner and an avid reader. He went by different names by those who loved him: Dad, Daddy, Pe-Pa, Grandpa, Pop, Johnny and John Robert. He had many friends and has left a huge void in our hearts. He will be greatly missed.
