Patrick “Pat” Louis O’Connor, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2025, in the comfort of his home. Pat was born on Oct.25, 1953, the oldest of nine children to Harold and Bernette O’Connor, Waunakee. Pat attended Saint John School for grades first thru eighth and graduated from Waunakee High School in 1971. Pat continued his education at MATC and worked for many years at General Telephone. No longer able to continue to work at General Telephone, Pat “Boomer” began his long journey as a volunteer in the Wisconsin Badger Football Department.
Although a physical disability ended Pat’s own participation in sports, his love of sports continued throughout his life. Pat enjoyed keeping up with local sports teams and traveled locally, regionally, and nationally to support his teams through seasons of struggle and triumph. Pat loved the Milwaukee Brewers and was a season ticket holder for the Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball teams for over 30 years. His incredible memory for sports statistics earned him the nickname, “Walking Sports Page” and often came in handy at weekly Trivia Nights at Lucky’s in Madison.
Pat is survived by his loving mother and Badger football game companion for 20 years, Bernette; siblings, Michael (Lynn) O’Connor, Mary (Jim) Clark, Julie (Mark) Kuehn, James (Jackie) O’Connor, Thomas (Debbie) O’Connor, Kathleen O’Connor, Peggy (Monte) Dunnum; nieces and nephews, Delaney Stelter and Callie O’Connor; Mackenzie Clark, Adam Kuehn and Katelyn Bukowski; Ryan, Joshua and John O’Connor and Lindsey Miller; Adam and Matthew O’Connor; and Brian, Samuel and Laura Dunnum. Pat is survived by many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his father, Harold O'Connor, infant, brother, John O’Connor and nephew, Zachary Clark.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q Waunakee. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 until the time of services.
