John Raymond Oisten, 71, of Spencer, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on October 7, 2025. He was born in Alpena, Michigan to parents Charles and Yvonne Featherston Oisten on July 20, 1954.
As a child, John enjoyed traveling around when his dad was in the Air Force, one of his favorite places was Germany. When his dad retired, they settled in Spencer, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1972. It was there that he met his wife, Donnetta Allen, and began their life together.
John was a hardworking man who loved playing golf, mowing his lawn, tinkering in his barn, feeding the wildlife at his home, camping and traveling with his wife and friends. John loved sports, being on his son's high school football chain gang, working at the concession stand, watching his daughter play basketball and track, nieces' basketball teams and so much more. He loved and was so proud of his 5 grandchildren and his dog, Bones, who had recently adopted him and his wife, Donnetta. He said God knew what he was doing when he sent Bones to them.
John worked for several years at Pepsi Cola and Budweiser, as a driver and route supervisor. He retired from the City of Oklahoma City as a Field Operations Supervisor.
John was preceded in death by his father, Charles Oisten, his mother, Yvonne Featherston, and his father-in-law, Frank Allen. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donnetta; his son, John (Janet) Oisten; his daughter, Janice (David) Thiemann; his grandchildren, Duncan Thiemann, Jillian Thiemann, John Charles Oisten, Isabelle Thiemann, and Julie Oisten, his siblings, Eugene Oisten, Dana Rice, and Cathy (Todd) Wilmoth; his mother-in-law, Mae Allen; his brother-in-law, Steve (Tammy) Allen; his aunts, Violet and Maxine, uncles, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was loved and admired by a host of friends and family, too many to mention and will be missed by all.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate John's life in the weeks to come.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make donations to the Leukemia Society Foundation.
