John Anthony Okonski, 74 years of age, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at his residence in Schertz TX.
John was born on July 4, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Harry and Mary Okonski. He was united in Holy matrimony to Perlita Manalo on September 12, 1972. This union was blessed with three children. John graduated from St. Rita High School (Chicago) in 1967. He attended the University of Montana from 1968 to 1969 and graduated from Wayland Baptist (San Antonio). John served faithfully in the United States Air Force from February 1969 to February 1999 where he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant.
He is survived by his siblings Kathleen (Mark) Blossom, Mark (Maureen) Okonski, Mary Kay (Steve) Nelson, Janet (Randall) Devenport and Jean (Timothy) Braun his children, Lawrence and Renee Manalo, Maylanie Foley and John Anthony Okonski II; Grandchildren, Ellora Quintanilla, Gabrielle Manalo, Cecelia Foley, Sidney Manalo, Sophia Manalo and Scarlett Manalo and 4 Greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Okonski and brother Jerome Okonski.
Services:
February 11: Visitation 5-8pm, Rosary to begin at 7pm at the Schertz Funeral Home
February 12: Catholic Mass at 1130 at Good Shepard Catholic Church (Schertz) and Military Services at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 130pm.
Celebration of Life will take place at the VFW Post 8315 at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital can be made in John’s name.
