John Thomas Oliver Jr.

Mr. John Thomas Oliver, Jr., age 86, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at his residence. He was born on August 20, 1939 in Pikeville, KY and was a member of McMinnville First Freewill Baptist Church. He was a lifelong timberman and was skilled at what he did. He was a big-time hunter who could sit quietly for hours in the woods, but when it came to the Kentucky Wildcats basketball games, he was out of his chair cheering right alongside them. His grandson was his world and loved him dearly.

Survivors include his son Mike (Merrill) Oliver, grandson Jace Oliver, special friends Ronnie and Sandy Porter, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John Thomas Oliver, Sr. and Martha Smith Oliver, his faithful wife Connie Sue Oliver, and all of his siblings as he was one of nine children.

Funeral service for Mr. John Oliver is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 18, 2026 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Brett Cook will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. There will be no visitation time at the funeral home.
