West Salem Township, PA- John Ray Ondo, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Born December 10, 1938, in Greenville, PA, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Slovinsky) Ondo and served in the United States Army before being honorably discharge.
On January 16, 1965, John married his beloved wife, Mary Lou Riffer. At the time of her passing in 2009, they had been married for 44 years. A respected tool and die maker at Delphi Packard Electric, John devoted several years to his craft before retiring.
In his spare time, John had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He loved to travel and found immense satisfaction working on his farm, where he cherished the time spent outdoors. John was also a proud member of the 32nd Degree Masons but above all, John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his two daughters, Diana L. Ondo-Johnston of Greenville, PA, and Laurie A. (Michael) Ondo-Regal of Erie, PA; one son, John David (Bronwyn Frerotte) Ondo of Greenville, PA; four grandchildren, Ethan, Willa and Adam Regal and Delayna Ondo; brother, James (Karen) Ondo of Greenville, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Ondo; brother, Jeff Ree Ondo; two sisters, June Katancheck and Jane Zimmerman; son-in-law, Daniel Johnston.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 11AM to 1PM at Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, OH 44428, immediately followed by the funeral service starting at 1PM. Burial will take place in Parklawn Cemetery, Jamestown, PA.
