John Robert Orvis, son of Harold and Bennie Webb Orvis was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 4, 1952, and passed away in Buffalo, Missouri, on September 8, 2024, at the age of 72 years.
John graduated high school in Kansas City in the late 1960's. He was married on December 7, 1973 to Cheryl Judy. She preceded him in death in 2020. He worked for HD Lee as a material handler and later as a parts supervisor at Lowe Boats. He enjoyed classic cars and rebuilding engines, hiking, country music, and reading books at night before bed. He also enjoyed watching the Sci-Fi movie channel, as well as Star Wars and Star Trek. In his later years, he enjoyed coloring and kept his family supplied with his masterpieces. Most of all, John treasured time spent with family and loved them dearly. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by: his children: Lorri Scofield of Buffalo, and Olivia McFadden and husband Cashe of Lebanon; grandchildren: Andreanna Watterson and husband Danny, Nathan Wade, Brantly Scott, Harley McFadden, Cody McFadden and wife Nikki, Breanna Spinden and Tyler McFadden; great-grandchildren: Mason, Donovan, Brayden, Clarissa, Jazlin, Jessie, Klowee, Evan and Layla; siblings: James Orvis, Mary Bull, Maggie, and Bessie; other relatives and many friends.
Those preceding him in death include: his parents; his wife Cheryl; granddaughter Cassandra McFadden; and great-grandson Elias.
At his request, his body is to be cremated under the direction of Shadel's Colonial Chapel, Lebanon, Missouri.
A Celebration of John's Life will be held at a later date.

John was my "Baby Brother". We rode bikes together, played softball in the street and sat on the porch across the street on summer nights with the neighbors. We grew apart as life and adulthood took over. School, marriage, children, philosophies and many miles separated us but he still was and always will be my "Baby Brother" and I love him and have missed him and will continue to miss him. Shalom, sweet boy. Maggie
