JOHN ROBERT OSBORNE, 80, of Wichita, Kansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on November 20, 1944, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Dennis Walter and Arlene Ruth (Unruh) Osborne, John spent his early years moving from place to place before the family settled in Wichita. He graduated from East High School in 1963, where his journey of faith and dedication to service began to take shape.

Following high school, John's deep faith and calling led him to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where he earned his Theology Degree. While in Springfield, he took a job as a dishwasher at Baptist Hospital-a seemingly simple role that would change his life forever. There he met a young nurse, Mary Louise Albright, whose kindness and beauty captured his heart. On August 27, 1965, the two were wed in Oberlin, Ohio, beginning a lifelong love story.

That same year, John and Mary made their home in Wichita, where he began working at Beech Aircraft. Over the decades, John worked his way up through the company, eventually joining the Engineering Department, where his dedication and skill were deeply valued. He retired in 2009, leaving behind not only a career of excellence but also friendships that lasted long beyond his working years.

John and Mary were blessed with three daughters-Julie Marcella, Debbie Michelle, and Jennifer Gail-who were the pride and joy of his life. As a father, John was present, encouraging his daughters, and using a touch of humor. His role as "Dad" expanded into "Grandpa" with the arrival of grandchildren and later great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense happiness.

A man of many talents, John was a true craftsman at heart. He had a gift for calligraphy, enjoyed photography, and found joy in woodworking. He loved reading, birdwatching, and stargazing-always pausing to appreciate the wonders of God's creation. In the kitchen, he expressed his creativity as well, preparing meals with the precision and flair of a seasoned chef.

John had a smile that could light up a room and an ease of conversation that made everyone feel welcome. His sense of humor, often laced with a bit of ornery charm, brought joy to countless friends and family members over the years. Yet above all else, John's greatest passion was sharing the Gospel. He was deeply devoted to his church, serving in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and holding the role of Deacon. He loved mentoring young people and even opened his home to foreign exchange students, offering both hospitality and guidance.

John is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Mary; his daughters Julie (Michael) Mead, Debbie (Shannon) Anderson, and Jennifer Osborne (Kenny Davis); his brother Patrick Osborne; grandchildren Drew Mead, Courtney Mead (Andre Bell), Ashton (Zachariah) Benson, Emma (David) Leck, Ethan Anderson, and Michaela Anderson; great-grandchildren Rachel Rose, Jebediah James, and Elwood Josiah; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Arlene; his brother Dennis Osborne; and his sister Margaret Pierson.

A funeral service honoring John's life will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at NewSpring Church, 12200 E 21st St N, Wichita. Interment will follow at Mulvane Cemetery in Mulvane. Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the World Missions fund at NewSpring Church, 12200 E 21st St N, Wichita.

John lived a life of faith, love, service, and joy-a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
