John Owen Obituary

John W Owen ( Papa Owen) left this earth unexpectedly on January 8th 2026. He was 73 years old.

A loving father and papa who's selflessness, devotion to family, strong work ethic, and guiding presence, led to being a "go-to" person, a source of unconditional love, and a hero who built lasting memories through actions, not just words, leaving behind a legacy of faith, integrity, and family values.

John was born to Claude and Betty Owen on December 18th 1952. He grew up in a military family and called many places home. He married his former wife Angela Winter and started a family.

John worked for Texas instruments then Raytheon as a systems test engineer until he retired. His other job was worrying about his loved ones. He watched weather forecasts if you were planning a trip, reminded you to check your tires and oil, always have water with you and have working flashlights. His priorities always centered around his family and their well-being.

John enjoyed being outside. He loved our local area. He fished the local creeks and hiked the surrounding hills. He found a love for making pottery and specialized making his own glazes and clay with local dirt.

John is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Betty Owen. He is survived by his son, Jesse Owen, daughter and son in law Michelle and Alfredo Santana, grandchildren Kienna (Eddi) Fernandez, Keegan, Kamden and Kooper Quinata, his brother Michael Owen, sisters Trisha Owen and Jane Ware.  John is also survived by his cherished friend Carolanne Sacry and long time friend and fishing buddy Steve Parker.

Services will be held at Holland and Lyons mortuary on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 at 11:00am.
