John "Jack" Pearcey, 95, of Alpena died peacefully in his sleep on December 27, 2025.
Jack was born May 22, 1930, in Detroit where he was raised in the area. He started working for the A&P Tea Co. at the age of 15 bagging potatoes in 5 lb. bags and worked his way up to meat manager, store manager, and into supervision. He traveled all over Michigan for A&P in supervision; he left A&P after 35 years. On August 19, 1978, he married his love, Elaine Hammermeister. In 1979 Jack went to work for Super Valu Foods at their Fort Wayne, IN division as a field counselor. In 1984 he transferred to Jacksonville, FL as a Sales Director for a division. He retired in the Chicago area as a Meat Director for Cub Foods on August 23, 1995, after 15 years.
Jack, at an early age, loved to draw and over the years he took several art classes. After retirement he moved to Lost Lake Woods Club in Lincoln where he was able to enjoy golfing. His true love was being an artist. He showed his work at Art In the Loft and was a member of the Art Gallery in Harrisville. Jack also enjoyed woodworking - making furniture for friends and family. Due to health problems he and Elaine moved to Alpena in 2020.
