John T. Peek, Jr., lovingly known as "Jet", was born on June 23, 1948, in
Kansas City, Missouri, and died in his home on January 20, 2026, at the young age of 77. He was the son of John T. Peek, Sr. and Madeline Flint Peek, who preceded him in death.
Jet is survived by his devoted partner Barbara Fields ("Barbie"); his sister Vicki Peek; his brother Randy Peek, Randy's wife Debbie; and his nephews.
Jet was loved by many. Special thanks are extended to Jeff Wahlberg, Roy Nobles, and Callie Moss-Carrell for their compassionate and devoted care during his final days. Heartfelt appreciation also goes to his dear friends, Carl, Andre, Marty, Doug, Kent, Holly, Tom, and Ray, who were constants in his life.
Jet proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division from 1971-1974. His service was a source of pride throughout his life.
Jet loved racing. PERIOD. It was his lifelong passion and he was involved in it for more than 50 years. He earned countless trophies, awards, and accolades (you just had to visit him and see!) and could recount every race in vivid detail.
Jet took racing seriously, and it showed in every aspect of his preparation and performance. He traveled thousands of miles over the years with his van loaded, very precisely, to each race. For many years, his only pit crew was his former wife, Sandy, who helped him achieve many of his wins. Jet was widely respected in the racing community, and was known as one of the last of a generation of hands-on top gas racers.
To support his racing, Jet owned and operated Full Throttle Custom Cycles, where he kept bikes running and built machines for those special few who trusted his skill and craftsmanship. His shop reflected who he was - meticulous, generous with his knowledge, and always willing to help someone get back on the road. He retired in 2023.
Jet was ready for Heaven. He lived his faith and found great comfort and peace in it. He asked to go home, and God granted him his desire. He was close to and deeply loved his church family at St. John Lutheran Church in Cypress. With faith in the Resurrection, we know we will be together again.
Jet may have left before us, but he will never be forgotten. He leaves behind loving memories that will remain in our hearts forever. I miss you, but then we will all miss you.
