John Joseph Perna, 57 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey.
Born Wednesday, May 17, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York, Johnny was the son of Kathleen (Cleary) Perna, and the late John Perna.
When Johnny was a young child his family moved to Ringwood, New Jersey. He would spend all of his childhood there. Even though Johnny was young when he moved to Ringwood, he always bragged about how he was from Brooklyn. In his youth Johnny would take weekly trips with his family back to Brooklyn for traditional Sunday dinner with aunt's, uncles and cousins.
Johnny worked for Durex Inc in Union, New Jersey as a Sheet Metal Department Supervisor for over 10 years. His co workers were a second family to him. When Johnny wasn't working he enjoyed his motorcycles, going to concerts, and the Jersey shore. He enjoyed taking trips to his happy places, Sedona, Arizona, Lake George, the Islands and to Georgia to see his beloved daughter. Johnny loved watching Rocky movies and rooting for his favorite team the New York Rangers. More than anything Johnny loved his family, especially his daughter Marly. Johnny was a loving and caring man who will be missed by all those that love him.
Johnny was predeceased by his father John and by his brother in law Jim.
Johnny is survived by his beloved daughter Marly Kowalczyk and her husband Alex, by his loving mother Kathleen, by his caring sisters Diane Russo, Janice Perna and her longtime partner John Sorrentino, and brother Jimmy Perna, his beloved nieces, Jenniferlynn Vargas and her husband Jonathan, Melissa Gautam and her husband Abhinav and great nieces Amayah and Aliyah Vargas, and by his cherished granddaughter Millie Rose.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
A funeral mass will take place on Friday at 10:00 am at the Most Holy Redeemer Church 133 Amboy Rd, Matawan, NJ 07747.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to the American Heart Association are made in John's memory.

As his brother I couldn´t ask for a better man! Showed me so much about life he literally brought me up from a boy to a man. We always worked together from my first job to my last job. He taught what he expected out of me to be the best I can be. I hope I didn´t let him down. I will miss him forever and with his passing has affected me greatly. Life will never ever be the same without you my brother. I love you and miss more than you know!

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

I don´t think John had a bad day in his life. If he did he never let it affect him from my view. Because of the way he lived his life and treated people I don´t think he´ll have any stopovers or detours on his way through the pearly gates.
