John Paul Poindexter, age 81, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Forrest City Medical Center in Forrest City.
Mr. Poindexter was born August 28, 1943, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, and was the son of Joseph Turner Poindexter and Pliceda 'Pat' Tubbs Poindexter. While in high school, he worked for the Arkansas Game and Fish as a dispatcher. He worked for the Arkansas State Police for thirty-eight years and later retired from the Texas D.P.S. after nine years of service. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Poindexter married Mickie Raines in 2000, and she survives him along with one daughter, Mary Jo Ford, and husband Brent, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one son, John Paul Poindexter, and wife, Barley, of Fort Smith, one step-daughter, Bethny Black, and husband, Shane, of Aurora, Colorado, one brother, Cletis Poindexter, one sister, Barbara King, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He had one sister, Robbie Harbin, one brother Tommy Poindexter, who preceded him in death.
Services for Mr. Poindexter will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 P.M. Saturday, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 1:00 P.M., until the time of the service. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. You may log on to stevensfuneralhome.net for the online registry.
