John E. Pottenger, age 63 of Dayton, passed away June 6, 2024. He was born February 26, 1961 in Dayton to the late Edward and Marcella (Deeter) Pottenger.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Pottenger, daughter, Teresa (Josh) Abney; sons, Tom (Nicole) Cook and Robert (Allison) Shelton; grandchildren, Austin Cook, Kylie Short, Skyeler Cook, Kaleb Short, Frank Rex and Marylou June Shelton; great-granddaughter, Raelyn Scearce; sisters, Carole Sue (Randy) Vaught and Kathy Pratt; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Family will receive guests from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439) where a funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Vandalia, OH.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
