John Edward Pratt, a dedicated servant to his community, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Teresa Pratt; his children, Jason (Jessie) Pratt, Jeffrey (Cherith) Pratt, and Dayna (Lance) Proctor; and his grandchildren, Delilah, Gibson, Alexavier, Luna, Miles, Madeline, Tenley, and Finn. He is also survived by his brothers, Randy and Jim.
John proudly served with the Highland Fire Department for 39 years, rising to the rank of Captain 3. He also drove the Panda Truck for Superior Ambulance, worked as an EMT, and was a CPR and First Aid instructor. His dedication to service extended beyond emergency response-he was an esteemed member of the Highland Township Goodfellows for 39 years. Even later in life, his passion for learning never waned, and he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2024 with an Associate in Applied Science in Firefighter Technology.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at West Highland Baptist Church, 1116 S. Hickory Ridge Rd., Milford, MI 48380.
