By the grace of our Lord, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, John Richard Pritzlaff, of Holt, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 76.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Richard and Elaine Pritzlaff, John grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, with his brothers, Paul and Tom.
He earned his degree from Central Michigan University where he met his beloved wife, Wendy. They married in August 1971, and shared 53 years of love, laughter, devotion and faith. John began his career as a middle school science teacher before moving into chemical sales and consulting, where he built lasting relationships through his humor that made everyone feel welcome.
Family was always at the center of John's life. He drove his sons and later his grandchildren to school, attended countless games, and traveled across the country to stay close to those he loved. He never missed a chance to take what he called "photographic evidence" of every trip and gathering, carefully documenting his family's life with pride and joy.
He was a proud father to Mark and Scott (Cortney), and loving grandfather to Josh, Ryan, Vivian, Olivia, and Charlotte. To his grandchildren, he was Kappa or Buppa, a source of fun, laughter and unconditional love. Despite serious health challenges in recent years, John remained independent, sharp and deeply engaged with life. His faith, strength and gratitude were an inspiration to all who knew him. John will be remembered for his humor, warmth, and unwavering devotion to his family. His love and faith will continue to guide those he leaves behind.
A memorial service for John will take place on Saturday, November 1st, 2025 at 11:00am, with the visitation starting one hour prior at Messiah Lutheran Church located at 5740 Holt Rd, Holt, MI 48842. A Luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church.
