John Rachid Obituary
John is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary. He was a loving father to Susan (Scott) Santi, Joan (Bob) Abraham, and John (Kathy) Rachid. His legacy continues
through his proud grandchildren: Christina Santi, Marco (Laura) Santi, Mary (Jake) DePierre, John Rachid IV, Katelyn Rachid, Grace Rachid, and Alivia Abraham.
He is also survived by his sister, JoAnne Kallie, and sisters-in-law Rita (Joe) Lesnau and Gertrude Myers.
John enjoyed a distinguished career in telecommunications, dedicating 34 years to Michigan Bell before retiring in 1989. His retirement was filled with passions that
spanned golfing, card games with lifelong friends, and cherished winters in Florida. A true car enthusiast, John turned his love of cars into a successful venture, buying, fixing, and selling them with a remarkable zeal. Known for his gift of conversation, John had a knack for striking up engaging chats with anyone he met. His generosity knew no bounds; he found joy in helping others and was always willing to lend a hand, especially if it meant getting his hands dirty. His ability to fix anything was a testament to his practical skills and caring nature.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warmth, wit, and generosity have left an indelible mark on the lives of his family and friends.
A memorial gathering will take place on Wednesday beginning at 9:30am at St. Paul of Tarsus Church 41300 Romeo Plank Rd at Canal (Clinton Twp.) until time of Memorial Mass at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be addressed to the The American Macular Degeneration Foundation https://www.macular.org/ or CURED (Campaign Urging Research for Eosinophilic Disease) https://curedfoundation.org
