August 10, 2023 John J. Radel, of Mountain Road, Shokan, son of the late Margaret Maurer Radel and Alexander John Radel. Born on October 18, 1934, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He leaves behind his children Richard John Radel (Ellen Kramer) of West Hurley, Lisa DeGondea (Rex Myers) of Kingston, Cynthia Bell (Donald) of Ruby, Theresa Swartz of Kingston and Richard Allan Radel (Lisa) of Gansevoort, NY as well as Buddy, his faithful feline companion. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Hartz Radel, a son, George Radel and grandsons Kevin Dugan, Jr. and Jon DeGondea.
Jack retired as a member of IBM’s Quarter Century Club and as an avid sportsman, he enjoyed the great outdoors, boating, hunting, fishing, gardening, food preservation and chef-quality recipes from the fruits of his labor. He will be remembered for his love of animals, friends, sharing a good long story, foul dad jokes and finding ingenious ways to repair and create useful items and most of all, his beloved grandchildren.
His granddaughter Rebecca DeGondea, great granddaughter Lilyana DeGondea and daughter Theresa Swartz selflessly gave their time and support so he could complete his life’s journey in the comfort of the home he so loved.
