John Reid, Sr., 73, of Winter, WI, formerly of West Bend, passed peacefully on March 1, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 28, 1952 in Milwaukee to the late Clifford and Carrol (Boettcher) Reid.
An electrician by trade, he retired from Electrical Energy Experts of Germantown as a Journeyman Wireman. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 494.
John was an avid outdoorsman and a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He especially enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish and shoot.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Beth Reid, his children, Mike (Kelli) Reid, Karie (Doug Whiting) Reid, Kelly Reid, John Reid Jr and stepdaughter Christine (Colin) Carr. Loving grandfather to Katie (Allen), Devin, Morgan, Owen, Parker, Caiden, Lilly and Cairenn; great-grandchildren Claire and Jack.
He is also survived by siblings Don (Cammy) Reid, Wendy (Jeff) Miller, Gayle (Dave) Conradson and Tammy Schlefke. John leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and many life-long friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Mark Reid and brother-in-law Pete Schlefke.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 15th from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 629 Cedar St., West Bend, WI 53095. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at https://t2t.org or a charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Highlands Health Center (Newcastle Place) and Horizon Home Care & Hospice.
