John Riley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner Funeral Home - Waynesboro on Jan. 3, 2026.
"FAMILY, DOGS, and FOOTBALL."

These three things describe the essence of MR. JOHN MILTON RILEY. He was a man who cherished moments spent with his relatives, and he had many glorious times with them. He enjoyed taking care of dogs and during recent times, he had pit bulls. As one who'd yell "ROLL TIDE," his favorite football team was the University of Alabama, without a doubt.

Mr. Riley liked his job at the county landfill, and in the words of his family, "loved slinging trash bags."

He was born July 25, 1985 in Meridian to Ms. Vera Riley and the late Mr. John Milton Brown and was a high school graduate.

On December 27, 2025, John traded in his earthly life for his journey into eternity. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Patrick Brown, Mark Riley, Dana Riley, and Johnathan Sanders.

His loving memories are sealed in the hearts of his survivors, mother: Vera Riley; two sons: Jayden Jackson and Joshua Jackson; three sisters: Chrystal Riley, Monica Riley, and Nicole (Eddie) Holloway; six brothers: John A. Riley, David Riley, Walter Riley, James Riley, Charles Riley, and Bruce Riley, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM at First Church of the Nazarene in Quitman, MS, with Pastor Donald Boyd as the officiant. Interment will follow at Little Zion Cemetery in Stonewall, MS.

Mr. Riley's viewing period will occur Monday, January 5, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at First Church of the Nazarene in Quitman, MS.
