John D. Roberts was born on March 31, 1949, in Oakridge, Tennessee, to Estill H. and Nora Dee Roberts, both of whom have preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Ruskin High School 1967. His first job was with Steve’s Shoes, at Truman corners Shopping Center. After a year at collage, he joined the U.S Army 13 Feb 1970 and later served at Ft Richardson in Alaska until 3 Nov 1975. He was a truck driver and a mechanic. He came back to the Kansas City area, where he went to work at Pete’s Tow Service. It was there, while on call. When he fell on ice and broke his leg, this affected him for the rest of his life. After our father died, he moved back home, at 5901 Barrymore Drive, Kansas City, MO. And helped take care of his mother. She lived to be 100, 1 month and 1 day. In Nov 2022 John entered Alpine Breeze Health and Wellness nursing home, Raytown, MO where he dies on 29 Nov 2025.
He was preceded in death by his brother Brent A Roberts, niece Patricia C Funk. Sister in-Laws; Karen Gerhart Roberts, Denise Gerhart Morris, and Jennifer Grotto. Brother in-Law Michael J Gerhart III. He is survived by his brother James E Roberts, sister Denise Roberts Johnston, nieces Makenzie Roberts, Aimee Roberts Mills and nephews Michael C Brown, Craig Roberts, Brian Roberts and many grand nieces and nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services to honor John’s life will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City MO. 816-523-1234
