John Robert Ross

John Robert Ross, age 74, of Willowick, went home to Jesus with his faithful companion Patty by his side on March 7, 2026. John was born on November 14, 1951, in Cleveland, to the late Joseph and Pauline (nee Longano) Ross. He was a graduate of Mayfield High School class of 1970. He was also a graduate of Lake Erie College in Painesville.

John was a United States Navy Veteran stationed in Edzell, Scotland and was the founder of the Edzell Navy Reunion Group. John was a United States Postal Employee and worked as a Letter Carrier, a Custodian, and an Electrical Technician in the Cleveland area before retiring. John was also a Freelance Writer. John became an active member and Trustee at Calvary Assembly of God.

John was an avid baseball and softball fan following the Cleveland Indians at an early age and the Lake County Captains. John would con an unwitting friend to stand in line with him for 2 hours for Captains opening day tickets. Following his retirement John had an unsuccessful run for a Council position in Willowick, and performed in at least five of The Fine Arts Association plays in the Euclid and Willoughby area. John was fascinated with everyone he met as if he was obtaining information for an article he was going to write. John enjoyed animals, especially his latest dog Badger.

John was the beloved husband of Karen (nee Zaffuto) Ross for 37 years before her passing. John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Theresa and her husband Thomas Brhel, and his brother in law Allen and LoriAnn Zaffuto, and his nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Wednesday, March 18, 2025, from 9:30am till 11am at Calvary Assembly of God, 28870 Chardon Rd, Willoughby Hills, OH 44092. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 AM at the church.
