It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Auther Roye II, born on April 26th, 1949 he was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on April 17, 2025, at the blessed age of 76. John was born to doting parents, John Auther Roye and Linnette Victoria Lewis. John has joined his wife Erica Deschamps in eternal rest.
Born and raised in St. Elizabeth Jamaica, John carried the island's warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit with him throughout his life. A gifted welder by trade and a natural-born fixer, there was nothing with a motor that he couldn't bring back to life. Whether it was a stubborn engine or a struggling friend, John was the one people turned to when they needed a helping hand.
In his younger years, John was a welder, artistic painter and engine repair business owner. He had a knack for making friends wherever he went, with an easy laugh, a warm heart, and a story always ready on his lips.
John's proudest legacy is his family. John's living siblings are Elaine Hyacinth Holness & Madriana Alelceita Andrawos. He is survived by five cherished daughters, Janice Roye, Venice Roye Russell, Alicia Roye Chestnut, Karen Callender, & Jo-Ann Deschamps. His Son in law's are Fitzroy Callender, Prince Chestnut and Ken Russell. His grandchildren are Danny Simmons, Cadence Chestnut, Savannah Chestnut, F.J. Callender, Kenny Callender, Ashley Gaskin and Stanton Jr. Gaskin,
John lived a life of resilience, ambition, and love. He built more than machines - he built bonds, memories, and a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
A celebration of John's life will be held on May 10th at Highlands Memorial Gardens in Apopka Florida. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
Following his celebration of life memorial service, we will be celebrating John at one of his favorite restaurants. So come and join the family, as we share our favorite stories about our beloved John Auther Roye.
Rest easy, John. You've earned your peace.
