John J. Rozylowicz

Visitation for John Jozef Rozylowicz, age 90, of Palatine, will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service with military honors will be conducted at 6:00 PM. The Interment will be private.
John passed away on July 27, 2024. He was born in Poland in the town of Gródek Jagiellonski, on September 16, 1933, the fourth eldest son of Marian Nicholas and Gisela (Lautsch) Rozylowicz. The family miraculously survived the horrors and deprivations of World War II before immigrating to the United States in 1949, initially arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana. Under sponsorship of the Polish National Alliance (PNA), the family relocated to Chicago, Illinois. John served honorably in the Army of the United States as a mechanic stationed mostly in Germany and returned to Fort Sheridan, Illinois, followed by 4 years in the Army Reserve. He went on to pursue multiple engineering degrees and eventually became part owner of two successful businesses: V & L Tool Enterprises Inc. and Red Devil. To say John was mechanically inclined is an understatement. He could build or repair almost anything and his integrity for his craft was unmatched. In addition to entrepreneur, John was also a licensed private pilot, avid fisherman, hunter and marksman, though his proudest accomplishment was being beloved grandfather to Brendan, Megan, Makenzi, Kaylie and Maddie. His generous nature, warm hugs and playful sarcasm will be missed greatly.
John is preceded in death by his brothers, Joe, Fred and Henry, and sisters, Christine and Helen.
He is survived by his brother Edward (Dolores) and children, Richard (Renea) and Darleen.
