John L. Rucker, age 76, went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born on June 10, 1948 in Newport News, VA to Elias Jr. and Ruby (Carman) Rucker, who preceded him in death.
John was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in Saigon during the Vietnam War. He worked at DSCC for 20 years. After retiring he was a realtor with Coldwell Banker. He was a lifetime member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1095, American Legion Post #0888 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Athletic Boosters Club for Madison Plains High School. John graduated from Franklin Heights High School in 1966. He graduated from Franklin University in 2003 with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. John enjoyed coin collecting, building model cars, bird watching, reading, and time spent with family.
Surviving family includes loving wife of 43 years, Debra, children, John (Molly) Rucker, James (Sara) Rucker, grandchildren, Alana, Briana, Mya, Elias, Makaylee and Amelia.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30am conducted by Rev. Chris Schneider on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 3924 Home Road, Powell, OH.
Burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH with military honors.
