John P. Ruffner

1935 - 2024

John P. Ruffner, 89, of Freeport, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, at Platinum Ridge, Brackenridge. John was born in Freeport, on July 7, 1935, a son of the late Agnes (Easley) and Gale J. Ruffner. John graduated from Freeport High School in 1953 and lived in Freeport most of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953-1956, during the Korean Conflict. John retired from Freeport Terminals after 43 years and enjoyed yard work, reading and attending his grandson's sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Neupert) Ruffner, who he married Nov. 25, 1959; his sons, John Todd (Christine) Ruffner of Mars and Brady Ruffner of Freeport; two grandsons, Theodore and Zachary Ruffner; and a brother, William (Carole) Ruffner of Natrona Heights. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Per John's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
