John Douglas Ryals, 70, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away on August 17, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 19, 1954, in Chattahoochee, Florida.

John held a master's degree that supported his advancement during his 30-year career with the Florida Department of Corrections. He retired as an Assistant Warden and later worked for 15 years as a Board-Certified Real Estate Agent serving the Florida Panhandle.

Earlier in his life, John enjoyed water skiing, and he never lost his love of the outdoors. He also enjoyed hunting almost as much as rooting for his beloved Florida State Seminoles, where he was a proud and long-term supporter. Before every game, he would call his grandsons so they could belt out the fight song together, a tradition they all cherished. He also loved the Atlanta Braves, faithfully cheering them on through every winning streak and every slump.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Ryals; daughter, Christan Jackson (Todd); grandsons, Caleb and Jacob Jackson; sister, Priscilla Ryals; brother, Donny Ryals; nephews, Justin Rowan, Nick Sheffield, and Brandon Ryals; and nieces, Marrissa Griffin and Amanda Chance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Charles Green Ryals, and his brother, Charles Green Ryals, Jr.

A service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Grace Community Baptist Church, 2059 Booster Club Rd, Bainbridge, GA 39819 (2 miles north of Chattahoochee, Florida) at 2:00 p.m. EST.
