David Richard English of Sneads, Florida passed away at his home on August 18, 2025 surrounded by his family after a long struggle with cancer.

He was predeceased by his mother Caroline Elizabeth English and his father George Edward English of Orlando, Florida. He is survived by his daughters: Elizabeth Ann English and her fiancé, William Pineda of Sanford, Florida and Jennifer Lynn English of Cheongju, South Korea. He is also survived by his sisters Marti C. English and her husband, John Gray of San Ramon, California; Laurie A. English of Lecanto, Florida and half-brother, Peter Hamlett of Richland, Michigan.

Having been born in Lansing Michigan on September 30, 1950, David lived in many states during early childhood as his father was a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. At the age of 10 the family settled into what would be his home for the remainder of his life - the State of Florida - residing then on McCoy AFB in Orlando, Fl. David attended Oak Ridge H.S, the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL., where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1972 and earned his Masters of Education degree in 1980.

He had a long and fulfilling career in the field of mental health, working at both the Sunland Center for people with disabilities and Florida State Hospital. At the same time, he owned and operated a chestnut farm for decades known as L&E Farms.

David had many things in his life that he really loved. In particular, he cherished his 2 daughters Elizabeth and Jennifer, his love for his Porsches could not be understated and his home is a reflection of his loyalty and pride in the Florida Gators. Also not to be forgotten is his love of golf, playing at courses all around the U.S. with his best buddies as well as attending IMSA races in his Brumos Mobile, hanging with his race track camping crew.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice and the staff at Stethoscope Staffing, LLC for taking such wonderful care of David while in his final days.

A celebration of his life will be planned at a future date for the many people who cared so much about him. A private funeral will be held in Bad Axe, Michigan, also to be decided at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship, to help Florida high school students with their education at the University of Florida.
