John William "Steeler John" Sahm

John Wiliam Sahm, 83, also known to many as Steeler John, passed away Tuesday March 11, 2025 at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. On May 18, 1941, John was born in Burnside, PA to the late Richard and Faye (Croasman) Sahm. Earning three bronze stars, Mr. Sahm was a US Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He had worked as a machinist for several area machine shops and also had worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart, where he was nick named "Steeler John". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving companion Donna Sahm on Feb. 23, 2025, daughter Dawn Schnell, grandchildren Ronnie and Kristy Jarrells and sister Eliabeth English. Survivors include his daughters Faye (Bill) Atha, Erin Sahm, his grandchildren Douglas (Kenna) Callahan, Nicole (Raymond) Davison, Autumn and Robert Atha, his great grandchildren DeAndre Jarrells, Ivan Allgyer, Raymond Davison and Freya Callahan and sister Beverly Harter. Graveside services with military honors will be 2:00 PM Friday March 14, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery Shalersville, Ohio.
