John passed away due to complications of cancer at Harborview Hospital, Seattle, WA.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Patty Sanchez, children Jeannine Lopez and Janelle Clelland. His Step Children Todd Whorley and Heather Kearny. John had 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren who all loved "Papa John".
John was son to Lucas and Laura Sanchez and one of 13 children. He was born at Dos Pueblos Orchid Ranch (yes, he was born in a barn) and attended Catholic school through high school in Santa Barbara, California.
He met Patty in 3rd grade but their relationship didn't bloom until 1971 and then flourished for the next half century.
John was partner with Danny Ramirez at Danny's Barber Shop in Santa Barbara on upper State St. He was also appointed President of the Santa Barbara Jaycees during the 1970's.
Later John ventured into the restaurant business by opening a Sambo's Pancake House in Coeurd'Alene, Idaho and eventually onto managing restaurants for Sea Galley in the Seattle area and in the TriCities.
Throughout retirement John and Patty traveled extensively to Europe and made memories via their RV travels. They also spent a lot of time in Palm Springs as snow birds. They loved hosting family and friends at "Rancho Relaxo". Lots of great memories!
John will be missed and celebrated by many. The family will be holding a private ceremony at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara at a later date.
