76 Years Old
John Flood Beauchemin, 76, and Sandra (Spinney) Beauchemin, 76, of Torrington CT passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023, and August 1, 2023, respectively. John and Sandra were married 54 years.
John was born in Hartford CT, the son of the late Clement Joseph Beauchemin III and Helen (Flood) Beauchemin. He is survived by his brother Clement Joseph Beauchemin IV and his wife Lori Beauchemin, and his sister Bettina Beauchemin. John was a graduate of St Anthony's High School in Bristol CT and Manhattan College in Bronx NY. John had a long successful career of thirty-eight years as an IT Manager working for The Torrington Company, a Division of Ingersoll-Rand Corporation and The Timken Company. He had many hobbies in his retirement that included working outside with his John Deere Tractor, restoring two 1969 BSA Lightning motorcycles and working on projects in the cellar. As a young man John spent time in New Jersey with his Uncle Paul and Aunt Eddie Beauchemin, often at Yonkers Race Track betting on the horses.
Sandra was born in Bristol CT, the daughter of Basil Spinney and Mary (Carone) Spinney. She is survived by her brother Brian N. Spinney and his wife Jane (Grosclaude) Spinney, and her special cousin Darci (Merrow) Buchanan. Sandra was predeceased by her cousin Jeffrey Merrow and his wife Nancy (Grabelski) Merrow. Sandra was a graduate of St Anthony's High School in Bristol CT. Sandra worked as a legal secretary for the Law Firm of Gallicchio, Merati and Griffin in Torrington. She had many interests throughout her life that involved knitting, cooking for family and friends, hosting for holiday gatherings and most importantly spending time with her husband of 54 years at their family home.
John and Sandra were survived by their eldest son Paul Joseph Beauchemin of Torrington CT, who was named after John's Uncle Paul from New Jersey. John and Sandra were predeceased by their son Scott Flood Beauchemin of Burlington CT. John and Sandra were blessed with two sons that were the joy of their life from Little League and Youth Soccer to College Graduations and successful careers that made them very proud parents. John told everyone he encountered to hug your children daily, tell them you love them and that you are proud of them. John and Sandra were also survived by nephews Clement Joseph Beauchemin V and his wife Rachel, Louis Beauchemin and his wife Jessica, Brian M Spinney and his wife Karin, and their niece Sarah (Spinney) Hough.
John, Sandra and her family are eternally grateful to their caregiver Claudia that gave them purpose and amazing care as they navigated health issues in their later years enabling them to stay in their home of 30 years. She will always be a part of the Beauchemin family.
John and Sandra will have a private burial with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. https://donate.cancer.org
