John Jacob Scaglione, age 86, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home on March 12, 2025.
John was born in Brooklyn NY. His mother, Randi Larsen-Scaglione, father, John Scaglione and sister, Joan L. Misulia, moved to Long Island NY when he was age14.
John is predeceased by his wives Anne and Mary, his parents, sister Joan, daughter Jennifer and good friend, Deborah Griffith.
He is survived by his daughter Loretta, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, stepchildren and his many good friends.
He was a newspaper boy, delivery boy for a drugstore and joined the Navy when he was age 19. He was a Navy Diesel Mechanic 1958-1962. 18 months on Guam. Built and repaired airplanes for Grumman Aircraft, Long Island NY. Steel metal worker, appliance repairman, delivered Milk for Stalkers Dairy, Selkirk NY, and worked for 30 years as a Railroad mechanic for Penn Central/CSX, Selkirk, NY.
John enjoyed camping with the Dusty Travelers camping group, traveling, canoeing, scenic rides, looking at watercraft on the Hudson River or taking care of family members. The past few years he has enjoyed the company at the Ravena Senior Center, bus trips, playing cards and dinners.
He enjoyed being a Snowbird for many years with his wife Mary, going to Myrtle Beach SC after retirement from the railroad.
A graveside service will be held March 22, 2025, at 12:30 pm in the Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, US Route 9W, New Baltimore, NY, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation, in memory of John, to the Ravena Senior Projects, 9 Bruno Blvd, Ravena, NY 12143.
