He was born on January 19, 1956, in Chicago, IL to George and Alicia Scandiff. John dedicated his professional life to the carpet and flooring industry, where he built a long career before retiring. John was a charismatic and humorous man, always ready with a smile and a joke that brightened any room. His warmth and wit endeared him to family and friends alike. Above all, John was a devoted and loving father. He cherished his children and grandchildren, and created countless memories filled with laughter and love. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of joy, generosity, and fatherly care will live on in all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Qiana (Daniel), Katrina, Holland, Ian, Eric (Jessica), Jordan (Alex) and his former wife and best friend Christina; his grandchildren, Alexus, Javion, Jade, Skylar, Daniel Jr, Colin, Delia, Azzira, Tessa, Oliver, Goliath, Phoenix, Bennu; and his siblings, Gary, Sherry, and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alicia Scandiff; and brother George Scandiff.
Family and friends are welcome to attend services in John's honor, which will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Peterson & Patch located at 408 N Sheridan Rd, Waukegan, IL 60085.
