John Scott Obituary
Mr. Scott passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, at his home in Anniston. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Glenda Scott, and his parents, Charles and Dorothy Scott.
He leaves behind his son, Jonathan Scott (Kelly); grandchild, Harper Scott; his brother, Earl Scott (Kaycee) and his nieces and nephews, Lexi Johnson, Mike Penny, Traci Howard and Jennifer Burdette.
Mr. Scott was a member of First Baptist Church of Oxford. He went to Oxford High School and attended Gadsden State Community College where he was a member of the first Basketball team. Mr. Scott earned his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Science at Jacksonville State University. He taught school and coached football and basketball at Wellborn High School from 1970-1980. Mr. Scott started working for ALFA in 1980 and worked for them until he retired in 2010. Mr. Scott enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, and watching Alabama football and basketball. He most enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter. He will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Goss, Zachary Goss, Chris Lamberth, Mike Penny, Jacob Penny and Jordan Penny.

Johnathan, I remember when your dad brought you hunting to Monroe County. I'm sorry for not reaching out sooner, but I just heard today. Your Dad was a FRIEND and I will continue to think of him often. I'm so sorry for your and your family's loss.
