John Scott Obituary

He was born into this life on July 17, 1951, in Wellsburg WV., a son to the late Russell Scott and Helen (Griffith) Bowning.
On December 2, 1975, he was united in marriage to the love of his life the former Alice Rose Barnhart, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Alice "Libbie" Biggs, of Philippi, and Sephronia Banks; grandchildren, Issac Newsome, Ileana Newsome, Elizabeth Scott, and Danny Ray Kisamore III; brother, Steffon Scott' three sisters, Lisa Scott, Mary Scott, and Ranatha Scott; many nephews and nieces, including his special niece Connie McCord, and her son, Walter "Stoney"McCord.
John attended the schools of Barbour County; he graduated from Philip Barbour High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. Mr. Scott retired from Bruce Hardwood as a Knot Sawyer. He enjoyed hanging around his family, and around the Belington Shop-n-Save. He loved to eat and have potluck dinners. John will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Mr. Scott donated his body to the Human Gift Registry. Family and friends willgather at the Kittle Family Funeral Home, 265 Beech Ave., Philippi, on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at which time the American Legion from Belington Post #96 will conduct military honors. A private burial of his remains will take place later in the Brooke County Memorial Cemetery, in Wellsburg, WV., In lieu of flowers the family has requested monetary donations be made to the Kittle Family Funeral to offset the cost of John's funeral expenses. The Kittle Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Scott Family with the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.kittlefamilyfh.com.
