John Thomas Seng, 62, of Houston, TX, died Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Houston Hospice, Houston, TX. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation by Integrity Funeral Care, Houston. 

Survivors include his son, Nolan Seng of Dubuque, Iowa; daughter Catherine Seng of Durham, NC; brothers, Joe Seng of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jim Seng of Houston, TX; sisters Mary (Steve) Mysak of Marion, IA; Carol Groth, Marion, IA, and Ginny (Dave) Maier of Alburnett, IA and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard John and Elizabeth “Betty” June (Spratte) Seng and special brother-in-law, Dick Groth. 

John was born March 12, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth Seng. He graduated from Marion High School, Marion, Iowa and the University of Iowa. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in accounting in 1985, John embarked on a distinguished career in accounting and finance. He began his professional journey at PricewaterhouseCoopers for seven years where he advanced to Manager. For sixteen years, John served as Financial Controller at various affiliates of Emerson Company. For the past fourteen years, John served as the Financial Controller at various other companies.

John was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, he enjoyed golfing, occasional fishing, and he loved yearly trips to a Hawkeye football game with his family and friends. He had a keen sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
