John David Shanklin, 63, husband of Rebecca Shanklin, passed away on December 21, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky. John was born on May 5, 1961, in Versailles, Kentucky, to the late Shirley and Mary Belle Kincaid Shanklin. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (John) Thomas; one step-son Joey (Stephanie) Vaughn; one stepdaughter, Trisha (Dominic) Waples; one brother, Calvin (Jerri) Shanklin; three sisters, Connie (Lacey) Tackett, Ruby (Bill) Votaw and Andi Shanklin, three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Julia Vaughn, and four siblings, Timothy Shanklin, Marilyn Burgan, Stephanie Shanklin, and Emma Linda Shanklin. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Connie Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Nonesuch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the funeral home. John Thomas, Cory Preston, Charles Hughes, Jesse Shanklin, Joey Vaughn, and Dominic Waples will be casket bearers. Online guestbook at www.bettsandwestfuneralhome.com
