John Logan Sheafer, 72, of Oak Cliff, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home, August 22, 2024, with his family by his side.
He was born on December 19, 1951, to the late David Leslie Sheafer and the late Mildred Marie McNames.
John lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his unwavering energy and passion for the things he loved, and was known for having such a great sense of humor. In 1972, John married the love of his life, Rita Walker and would began a journey that would span over five decades of devotion, shared memories, and countless adventures. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter.
John was a man of many talents and interests. He was never one to sit still, always finding joy in staying active and engaged. Whether he was exercising, working on a new woodworking project, or strumming his guitar, John approached everything he did with enthusiasm and dedication. His love for sports was evident not just in the games he watched but in the time he spent throwing the football.
One of John's greatest pleasures was fishing. The serenity of the water, the thrill of the catch, and the time spent in nature brought him peace and contentment. His family and friends will always remember him as someone who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and who shared that joy with everyone around him.
John Logan Sheafer's legacy is one of love, hard work, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his wife, Rita Sheafer; son, John Logan sheafer Jr.; daughter, Tammi Sheafer; grandchildren, Daniel Alonzo, Logan Sheafer, Jaquelyn Sheafer, Ashlee Sheafer; great grandchildren, Emerson, Jaxon, Easton, and Heidi; sister's Sherry, Christy, Susie; brother, Bobby; Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Hope Irving Church. 1646 W. Irving Blvd. Irving, Tx. 75061. Pastor Dennis King will be officiating.
Arrangements entrusted to Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home under the direction of Aaron King, Funeral Director.
