Rita Jane Sheafer, a beloved wife, mother, and homemaker, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, September 28, 2024, in Dallas, Texas.
She was born January 23, 1954, to the late Ray Benjamin Walker, and the late Cherry Jane Jordan.
Rita was a remarkable woman who had a heart of gold. She had a special gift for making everyone she met feel loved and welcomed, never meeting a stranger. Whether through her warm smile, kind words, or thoughtful gestures, Rita touched the lives of many with her unconditional love and genuine compassion.
In her younger years, Rita worked as a waitress, where she brightened the days of her customers with her cheerful demeanor and friendly personality. After becoming disabled, she embraced her role as a devoted housewife and homemaker, pouring her heart and soul into creating a loving and nurturing home for her family.
Rita was a devoted member of Hope Fellowship Church in Irving, Texas, where she cherished her church family deeply. Her faith and love for her community shined through in her unwavering support and compassion. Rita was a proud cancer survivor, showcasing resilience and courage that inspired all who knew her.
Her love for family was unparalleled, especially during Christmas, her favorite time of year. Gathering with loved ones during the holidays brought her immense joy, warmth, and cherished memories. Rita had a profound appreciation for the simple pleasures of life, such as basking in the company of family and watching her beloved shows and stories.
Above all, Rita was known for her boundless kindness and genuine care for others. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued-a gift that will be missed dearly but remembered with gratitude and love.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Sheafer, and her sister, Norma Perez.
She is survived by her son; John Sheafer and wife Brittany; daughter, Tammi Sheafer; grandchildren, Daniel, Logan, Jaquelyn, Ashlee, Khloe; great grandchildren; Emerson, Jaxon, Easton, Heidi; sister, Shelia Duffy and husband Craig; Numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Though she is no longer with us, Rita's legacy will continue in the hearts of her family, her friends, and every soul she touched throughout her life. May we celebrate her life by emulating her example of compassion, love, and unwavering positivity.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am, Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Hope Irving Church. 1646 W. Irving Blvd. Irving, Tx. 75061. Pastor Dennis King will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens at 12pm. 1413 E. Irving Blvd, Irving, Texas 75060
