John E. Shiley, Jr., 64, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 19, 2025. He was born on November 2, 1960, in Harrisburg, PA, to John E. Shiley, Sr. and Barbara L. Shiley. He grew up in Enola and lived most of his life in Perry County.
A devoted husband, John is survived by his wife, Susan L. Shiley (Tingler), together for 44 years. He also leaves behind five brother in-laws and several nieces and nephews.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 to 1980. John enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Marysville Sportsman Club. One of his greatest joys was his yearly adventures to Maine, always looking forward to seeing moose. His love for animals was unmatched, especially for his dogs (his girls) Christy, Allie, Jessie, and Kaylee.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother, Bob. John will be missed greatly by several lifelong friends and coworkers.
His presence was felt by all those around him. He had a big laugh and a big heart, and all those who knew him will feel his loss greatly.
A memorial service celebrating Johns' life will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church in Marysville, PA on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 6:00 PM. 400 Lansvale Street, Maysville.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Shiley family.

I am very sad to find out about John's passing. He was good friends with my brothers when we were kids, and was like a 4th brother to me. We all had so much fun together, and he is a part of so many good memories for all of us. We lived next to his grandmother and missed him when we moved away.
Photo is with my brother, Dave, in our back yard (we all called John "Buck" at the time).
May God give his wife peace and comfort.

To The Family,
I´m heartbroken to hear of John´s passing. I´ve known John & his family all my life. His grandmother lived a couple of houses away from my grandmother & pap in West Fairview. He always made me laugh, although he embarrassed me a lot, but that was John. He had such a good heart & was always smiling. He will certainly be missed but never forgotten. I´ll miss him dearly. Rest in Peace John.
Love,
Sharon Myers
