Mark Allen Shiley, age 69, passed away on May 24, 2025, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Born on January 16, 1956 in Rocky River, Ohio to Clark Shiley and Francis Bergenstein, affectionately known as 'Dolly'. Known simply as Mark to everyone who knew him, he faced life-and later, cancer-with strength, humor, and resilience.
Mark is survived by his children: Matthew Fox of Vermilion, OH and his wife Jennifer, along with their children Myla and Owen; Brittany Myers of Huron, OH and her husband Anthony, and their children Sawyer and Avery; Spenser Loebich of Avon Lake, OH and her husband Mason, and their son Brecklin; and Cameron Shiley of Sheffield Village, OH and his partner Alexa Weisbarth, and their daughter Rowyn. His family was his pride, and each of them carries forward the love and values he shared so generously.
Mark spent his career as a general contractor, where he combined skill, creativity, and attention to detail with a genuine love for people. His projects weren't just about remodeling homes-they were about building friendships, and a legacy of quality work. Whether it was a full renovation or a small addition, Mark brought care and craftsmanship to everything he did.
Outside of work, Mark lived life with curiosity and creativity. Music was always playing in the background-Jimmy Buffett, Willie Nelson, and Bob Marley were some of his favorites. He found joy in cooking, often bringing people together over meals he crafted from scratch. He took pride in his Italian roots and delighted in bringing people together around the table, always urging them to eat with his signature cheer: 'Mangia!' Hosting friends and family gave him purpose, and his kitchen was a place for laughter, good food, and better stories.
Mark was an avid motorcycle rider who found freedom and connection on the open road. He especially loved riding along A1A, where the ocean breeze, good friends, and the occasional stop for a cold beer, live music, and plenty of laughs made for some of his favorite memories. Riding wasn't just a hobby-it brought him joy, camaraderie, and lasting friendships.
He was thoughtful, funny, and endlessly resourceful. He could fix anything and had a gift for making people laugh while doing it. His sense of humor and his approach to life was straightforward, generous, and full of heart.
Mark was rarely found sitting still-always tinkering, building, cleaning, or working on a project. His playful motto, 'Don't let your meatloaf,' perfectly captured his spirited, hands-on approach to life.
Don't let your meatloaf.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held in Ohio this summer.
