John E. Sienkiewicz

John Edward Sienkiewicz passed away on September 9, 2024, in Huntington Beach, CA, at the age of 90. Born on December 22, 1933, in Erie, PA, John lived a full life marked by service, faith, and family.
John graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School and later earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Gannon University in 1956. His commitment to service was evident early on as he joined the Army, serving both actively and in the Reserves from 1957 to 1963. After his military service, John moved to Santa Monica, CA, and began a distinguished career in the aerospace industry. He started at Douglas Aircraft and retired from McDonald-Douglas in 1997, having worked as a Contract Administrator on significant projects such as Skylab, Space Station Freedom, and the Delta Rocket.
A devout member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, John's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a loving husband to Catherine and a caring father to his daughters, Laurie and Susan. John was also an avid storyteller, often sharing tales of his childhood in the family grocery store, his time stationed in Germany, and his experiences in the Army.
John's hobbies included playing the clarinet and enjoying jazz and classical music. He was a fervent college football fan, with a special fondness for the Army-Navy game and Notre Dame football.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Sienkiewicz; daughters, Laurie and Susan Sienkiewicz; and preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Louise E. Sienkiewicz, and his sister, Carole McFadden.
Memorial services will be held at Heritage-Dilday Funeral Home, located at 17911 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach, CA, with a viewing on September 19, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral mass is scheduled for September 20, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 16400 Springdale St, Huntington Beach, CA. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery, 8301 Talbert Ave, Huntington Beach, CA. Heritage-Dilday Funeral Home is assisting the family during this time.
