John Simonsson Obituary
John was raised in Selden, Kansas and graduated from Selden High School in 1956. After high school John attended Park College in Chicago for one year. In 1958 John enlisted in the Army, he was a MP Specialist 4th Class for the 536th Military Police Co. Wurtz Branch, in Germany. After the army he farmed till 1962 then he bought into Oberlin and Atwood sale barns. John owned and operated Oberlin and Atwood sale barns for 18 years, before selling John would travel as a cattle buyer for 40 plus years. He would travel 5-6 days a week buying cattle.
In August 1962 John married Sharon Bryan and to that union 3 children were born. Then on July 14, 1989, John married Connie Rehm in Loveland, Colorado. John was a member of the Lund Covenant Church and the American Legion. John had many interests, draft horses and mules, he enjoyed traveling and fishing in Canada.
John is survived by wife, Connie of Oberlin, KS; three sons: Brian (Pam) Simonsson of Oberlin, KS, Brent Simonsson, of Texas, Brad (Michelle) Simonsson of Wamego, KS; stepchildren: Tiffany (Chris) Phillips of Santa Cruz, CA, Chris (Mary) Bryan of Stanford, MT and Eric (Jessie) Bryan of Loveland, CO; sisters: June Marcy of Valley Center, KS and Carlyne (Gil) Mahaffy of Arvada, CO; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. John is preceded by his parents, and brother-in-law Dale Marcy.
Services will be held at a later time. Burial will be in Lund Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made out to Decatur County Museum. Condolence can be left at www.plumergobber.com.
