John G. Snedden passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025 at a home on Catfish Lake in Eagle River, WI. He was 74 years old.
His childhood home was on the chain between Catfish and Cranberry Lakes where he grew up fishing, exploring the Northwoods, and making trouble in town on occasion.
He graduated from Eagle River Union High School in 1966 and went on to college at UW Stevens Point where he received a bachelors degree in Political Science and History. He met and married the love of his life in 1976 who caught his eye with a pecan pie and they raised two children in Eagle River. He worked 26 years in the propane business and 21 years for Eagle Fuel Cells.
His hobbies included kayaking, long bicycle rides, and nature walks. He was an avid reader, especially books about historical events. He also refereed soccer for 35 years and enjoyed attending sporting events for all the children in his life. He was like a father and mentor to many. The last 8 years he resided in Minnesota with his wife where they were Bumpa and Grammy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine Snedden; a brother, Robert "Bob" Snedden; and three nieces, Roxanne, Dawn, and Kelsey. At the age of 54 he received the gift of life through a kidney transplant from his niece Roxanne.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Snedden; four siblings, Larry (Donna), Jim (Marie), Paul Snedden, and Gail (Gary) Schwenn of Eagle River, WI; a son, Seth (Nicole) Snedden of Carver, MN; a daughter, Leah (James) Barrera of New York, NY and beloved grandchildren, Henry Charles and Cora Cresence.
He came to know the Lord Jesus in a relational way as a young adult that sustained him throughout life. He had a steadfast nature that was built upon a foundation of spending time with the Lord through worship, prayer and bible reading.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, Eagle River, WI. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Luncheon will be held at Noon at Northwoods Assembly of God Church.
Online condolences may be expressed at gaffney-busha.com. In lieu of flowers, John's final wish was that donations be made to Compassion International where he and his wife have supported children for over 47 years releasing them from poverty in Jesus' name.
We were loved well and will miss him dearly but rejoice knowing he's in heaven with his Lord and Savior.

John was truly one of the most even keel gentlemen we knew. I enjoyed working with him. It became a friendship I treasured. He was just a pleasure to be around....even in the hard times, his smile lit up a room. He will be missed, but never forgotten..!!

Will miss you John. I will always remember our younger days when we went to Gillies and you ate a banana boat and let me sit on your lap. I always looked up to you.
