John Anthony Soper

John Anthony Soper passed away on December 22, 2023 in the early morning hours at home with his family in Chino, California three years after a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. John will be remembered as a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. John is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Glenn Elwood Brocker and Esta Lucille Brocker (Waller) and his paternal grandparents, Franklin Leonard Soper and Eveleen Rose Soper (Giroux). John is survived by his wife, Elena Jeanne Soper (Montuori); his children, Margaret "Meg" Arabelle Soper, Justin Thomas Soper and Ethan Gabriel Soper; his mother, Madeline Arabelle Soper (Brocker); his father, Allen Joseph Soper; his sister, Bridget Marie Meredith (Soper) and his nephew, S. Robert Meredith.
John was born on July 31, 1970 in Upland, California. While he lived the majority of his life in southern California, he would also live in Arizona and Pennsylvania. He grew up in Azusa, California. He graduated from Azusa High School in 1988. He was a member of the Aztec Singers from 1984-1988.
On May 5, 2001 he married Elena Jeanne Montuori. Together they had three children; Meg in October 2003, Justin in March 2007 and Ethan in January 2009. His family gave him much joy.
John's career was in the food industry. He attended the Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, AZ graduating with honors. He would end his career at the California Institute for Women in Chino, California. The position he held in the highest regard was with a specialized nutrition company as a private chef where he helped create foods for people needing specialized diets.
When family and friends reminisce, they will recall John's quiet, kind and wise soul. Those who were fortunate to know him will carry his kindness with them. John loved the outdoors, especially the ocean. He would make many trips during his life to the various beaches in Southern California where he found great joy with friends and family.
John's family greatly appreciates the love, prayers, support they have received from family and friends during this difficult time.
John's Celebration of Life will be held on January 15, 2024 at 10am at Preston and Simons Mortuary in Riverside, California.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the City of Hope.
