John Spokas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Dec. 29, 2022.
John J Spokas Jr. passed away on December 24,2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 2, 1953, to John and Elizabeth (nee Beauvais) Spokas in Champaign, IL.
John began learning about the carwash industry at a young age, which became a lifelong career that he very much enjoyed.
John took much pleasure in his many hobbies. From tying fishing flies and hand crafting fishing poles, to learning his favorite bluegrass songs on the guitar. As an avid lover of nature, he found sanctuary in the forests and lakes of Quetico Park, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, and any body of water that bore the possibility of a smallmouth bass nibbling at his fishing line.
John had an immense and gregarious personality; his presence was known at social gatherings by his booming voice and laughter.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth and his sister Mary Spokas.
John is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Matthew) Orseske, and son Eric (Elizabeth Puchalski) Spokas; his five grandchildren David, Katherine, Andrew, Alexander and Emilia; his father, John Spokas; siblings, Joseph (Mary Ellen), Anne Dawson, David (Mamie), Philip (Catherine), Janet (Robert) Kappel and Clare (Aaron) Mensik and many nieces and nephews.
His unfaltering optimism, despite his declining health, was truly inspiring.
Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday January 4th, 2023, 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home Cremation Services. 44 S Mill Street Naperville, IL 60540
